Stramash

Located on Cowgate, Stramash is a late night music venue that has been converted from a old church. It has a capacity of 900 and also has free entry. It also has the largest TV screen in the entirety of Edinburgh, which is used to broadcast major sporting events throughout the calendar year. Stramash has a very large dance floor, with two adjacent bars either side of it, and it also has a mezzanine above the stage, overlooking onto the dance floor.

What’s Fresh? recommends:

Strict Bouncers - Keep at a steady level of drunk when you are in Stramash, as the bouncers are known to kick people out who they deem to be too drunk. This has happened to a few of my friends over the years, and it can even occur if they aren’t even that drunk.

Theme dependent - Check in advance what genre of music is playing on the night that you would want to go, just in case you do not like the music. For example, Stramash hosts a Ceilidh night every so often, and if you don’t like it you can be stuck doing the Gay Gordon all night.

Last destination - What’s Fresh? recommends to finish your night out here, as it is fun enough to send the night off on a good note, whilst also being quite a chill place to relax.
